I often sit alone down in my garden,
Thinking about every little pretty toy and trinket that I know (Oh)
There are often much too many to remember,
So I recline my posture, take my pen, and jot them in my little book (Oh)
And leaf by leaf, I fill the little margins with severity
And day by day I deliver all my preference to posterity
Each and every page, it goes like this:
I like cakes and I like trains
I like puddings and souffles
I like Sunday football games on TV
I like bowling in the park,
Gin and ices after dark,
Bowler hats and cricket caps and bearskins.
You musn't think of me as very shallow,
For I often sit up late at night and contemplate my portrait of the queen
And in the morning hours, I am not resting
I'm much too busy testing and protesting all the creases in my sheets (Oh)
And my book is a way for me to believe
That a nook is a home for you and for me
For the things it shows are worth every ledger I know...
...so then each and every page, it goes like this:
I like cricket, I like tea
Some commercials bother me, but
Croquet is the game for me on Mondays.
I like church and fine museums,
green berets, oh, when I see 'em
Pill box hats and coonskin caps and kufi's
Toques and turbans, helmets fair
Bicorne felt-tops everywhere
Ascot caps and Ushankas and Mitres
---
And then they came a little closer,
Reflecting faces in the glass
And confiscating so demonstrably
My hats...

Give me more more more! (music)
